Craig’s story

A client, Craig (name changed) was struggling with the relationship with his girlfriend, small things at home would bother him way more than he thought they should, he ended up in arguments over silly things. After blazing rows and things said that he didn’t mean, he would take himself off and drink to calm down and feel okay again. Things bothered him less when he drank. The relationship was struggling; there was talk of splitting up. Neither of them really wanted that. Craig came to counselling because he didn’t understand what was going on, he wanted to work on himself. We explored his past and how he felt about himself and found things that were being triggered. Craig learned how to address issues in a new way with his girlfriend, leading to earlier resolution and a lot less anger.
